This could be a terrifically depressing or over hopeful story, but sometimes you gotta listen to the kids and that’s what I did and I found a really great story that really tells the story of 2020.
My son had a music assignment for his online class and the teacher asked them to listen to Sleigh Ride, just the music and then come up with a story. What he came up with was quite good and it’s representative of the way a lot of us feel going through this year with the pandemic and isolation, the anger the frustration and sadness. So we made an ebook from it, Under A Christmas Moon.

My son told the story about a piano locked away in a basement by itself. Now think of that, a piano that’s very purpose is to bring music to life when it’s touched by others. But there it sat for years and the anger and sadness grew, because this piano, as my son said, was alive, but it could only move and react when there was a full moon on Christmas.
Well, the piano was in a theater basement and that theater had closed and then a young man reopened it. But business turned bad and the theater was in danger of closing. He was a desperate man and needed help.
The moon shone, the piano came alive and played an angry, forlorn tune and the man came down and found it and they eventually played a song together and helped each other out.
So that’s the story in a nutshell. I think it’s a good one. We worked on it together, my son and I. I did some art for it, so you can blame me for that. But if you’re looking for something that gets to our feelings and also maintains some hope, this is the story for you. It’s available on Amazon as an e-book for a little while longer. It’s short and I think worth the read. We originally just were going to make something for a our family, but we thought we’d give people the opportunity to check it out.
Happy Holidays.
